Does BFL Work? - Yes I think so!!

BFL is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. So why is it so hard for me to get back on the wagon? I mean just look at these pics from last Christmas. Can you say FAT and DRUNK????? Yes that was me, Fathead Todd and the well I dont know the rest of the name of the group. I dont ever want to go back to this Todd. I want to post these pics to keep myself accountable that this never happens. So go ahead and tell me just how freakin ugly this fatass is and I will agree, but please know that I will (bubblz) Never give UP! This will be a fight internally with myself for the rest of my life, but I will make it!

Happy 10th Birthday Ty(rell Leroy)!!

Yes, yet another birthday and another one of our babies reaching double digits! I swear if you have a child(ren), tell them how much you love them everyday. Life gets away from us so fast and I think they grow up faster. Is it just me, but does life seem to hit "warp speed" with each passing milestone that we reach?

Think about when you were a child. Did it not seem like an eternity from one Christmas to the next? Now it seems that Christmas comes around in about a month's time. I think it starts with HS graduation and then college. Now let's move to marriage and the birth of your 1st child. All these things just seem to speed things along even more. Hug your kids and kiss your spouse and tell them how much you love them everyday, because time just seems to continue to speed along!

Are We there Yet?

ARE WE THERE YET?
How many times as a parent have you heard that phrase? Well that is the way that I have been feeling with my BFL lifestyle over the past few months. I can do some pretty impressive things during the week, but weekends kill me. As of late the weekly routine had not been that impressive. Yesterday I was kind of sitting around lurking on the Tracker and I came across this thread from Deita and it really hit home with me and I hope it helps anyone that might be struggling with the day-to-day grind that is basically our lives.

IT DOESNT MATTER HOW OFTEN YOU FALL

It doesn’t matter how often you fall. What matters is how you land and where you end up. Cats have nine lives, and always seem to get second chances. Cats also land on their feet whenever they fall. Coincidence?

In the years ahead, you’ll go through successes and failures, highs and lows, steps forward and steps back, times of plenty and times of difficulty. When the dust settles and the books of life are squared away, you’re doing well if you come out the other side better, stronger and happier for the experience.

Some see weight loss and healthy living as struggles. Usually, it’s because they have an all-or-nothing approach that only accepts perfection. Faced with anything less than 100% success, they fall into guilty despair, convinced that they’ve failed. Then they revert to old habits and the cycle starts over again. We don’t see it that way. Healthy living is a process of learning. Life doesn’t always pan out like you thought, and fate has a toolbox full of wrenches to throw into your plans. Dieting setbacks can show up in a lot of ways. Do any of these look familiar from your dieting past?

Plateaus: “The scale is simply not moving, and I’m getting frustrated.”

Burnout: “I just can’t keep up this tough regimen anymore.”

Weak Moments: “I had a really bad week, and spent all weekend eating cheeseburgers and donuts.”

Discouragement: “I’m never going to make it all the way, I might as well give up.”

Interruptions: “Why did I have to get sick now?”

Injuries: “Can’t believe I pulled a muscle right when I was starting to see progress.”

Since you’re developing a new, healthy lifestyle, you can do things differently this time. Instead of expecting perfection, you can concentrate on damage control, on bouncing back. Here are four strategies to help you along:

Keep a positive attitude Several studies have shown that optimists reach more goals than pessimists. They see more success not because they fail less often, but because they get back up more often. People with positive attitudes see setbacks for what they really are. When you have a setback, it’s not a brick wall that must be climbed (or that can stop progress altogether). You’ve merely met a gate; it may delay you for a second, but if you open that gate and move through it, you’ll soon be on your way.

Trust in your plan You spent a lot of time setting up a smart dieting plan with smart strategies that made sense for your tastes and your life. You laid out the steps you needed to take to move steadily forward. You knew that weight loss was just a matter of time if you followed that consistent plan. Well, what was true in the beginning is still true, even after you have a setback. The same plan will work. If you get back on the horse and keep riding, all the work you’ve done to this point won’t go to waste. Remember that you can do this because you’re doing it the right way.

Believe in yourself Self-discipline can be hard. But you have the skills and knowledge to overcome that hurdle often enough to build healthy habits. If things go wrong or you make a mistake, instead of beating yourself up, give yourself a pep talk. You are worth the effort. Your weight loss goals and new lifestyle deserve another shot. After all, you’re already doing more than most people even try to do.

Give yourself good reasons to keep going Return to the basics of motivation to get back on track. What were your main motivations from the Motivation Exercise? Who can you reconnect with that might give you a lift? Have you been rewarding your good behavior often enough? The answers to these questions may hold a golden nugget of motivation that you may have forgotten about.

Mitch Mustain-The Messiah?

Only a few weeks away from the start of my favorite time of the year-College Football Season!! That's right, start to get some cooler weather filtering in, you know how the air just feels crisp (oh yeah babe!). The leaves start turning colors and later you smell the burning of fireplaces around the neigborhood.

And Saturday Game Day tailgate parties! Yes this is the reason fall is my favorite season. See this young man to the right? He has the weight of the state of Arkansas on his shoulders and has never even taken a snap from center at the college level! Pressure? Maybe not. Mitch Mustain was the #1 overall HS player in the country last year and was voted the Gatorade National Player of the Year. Our family traveled to watch him play last year and this kid is poised, confident, and just damn athletic! Add to this mix that his HS football coach is now Arkansas' offensive coordinator, he could see significant playing time as a true freshman. USC comes to town the first Saturday in September, that should be fun (last year USC 70-17). Dont know if he will be thrown to the wolves in that game, but for one would like to see how he measures to that caliber of competition! GOOOOO HOGSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

BFL and myself are having a love hate thing going right now. There are days that I am spot on, and there are some that I wonder what the hell I am doing! Keep on pushing!

Happy Birthday Jake!!!

I cant believe that I am the parent of a teenager! My firstborn turned 13 today, even though he thinks he's 20. I must say that I am very blessed to have 5 wonderful children. With summer coming to an end, school will be back in session and then the fun really starts! They are all at the age now that they are all very active!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had a great FBWO this morning! (Yes!) I started reading BFFM last night, but there is a lot of information here, so it may take a while to start applying these principles. For now, I made the committment to do my workouts first thing every morning. I dont know why I decided to tweak this in the first place, it was not broken! Live and learn!
